Cold riffs and a raw, lo-fi production are nothing new in black metal, but Daedric Chamber's most recent full-length presents something refreshingly different. Along with its Elder Scrolls theme, there's a lot of understated atmospheric touches here, with passages of clean guitar work and muted synths. The songwriting is also excellent. Elevated by it's progressive sensibilities, tight riffs and a willingness to experiment with quieter moments and a range of emotions.
